Helping Returning Citizens Find Their New Home

The Importance of Stable Housing in Prison Reentry

Reliable housing is crucial for successful prisoner reentry. Former prisoners face obstacles in securing housing due to their criminal record, financial situation, and lack of resources. Landlords may hesitate to rent to those with a criminal record, and those who do often require high deposits and rent payments. Limited financial resources can make it challenging to afford housing, especially in areas with high rental costs like
South Florida.

Given their years of incarceration, we strive to provide our residents with a campus home that offers a sense of permanence and security. A stable home allows our residents, with our help, to focus on regaining their lives, finding employment, accessing healthcare, and restarting their education.

Restoration Destination offers:

Helping DAVID and CHARLES– and other like them

David lived in a tent under a bridge in West Palm Beach before we helped him pack up and brought him home to Restoration Destination. Those who were there to welcome him will never forget the broad grin on his face and the tears in his eyes when he saw his new home with his new bed and everything he needed to start a new life.

Charles was incarcerated for over fifty years. His family and friends had long since passed away. Fortunately, with the help of volunteers, Charles contacted Restoration Destination well before his end of sentence. Ever since he was met at the front gate of his prison as he was released, Charles has become an example to the other community members that there is a quality life to be lived after prison
