The Black Sheep idiom is based on the fact that they are less valuable than white sheep because their wool is more difficult to dye. Hence, a Black Sheep organization has specific characteristics deemed undesirable by others.

WHITE SHEEP ORGANIZATION: Harvard University serves the “best & brightest.” Their endowment stands at $53.2 Billion. Last year they raised $1.38 Billion.

BLACK SHEEP ORGANIZATION: Restoration Destination serves, to use our founder Dick Witherow’s words, “Modern-day Lepers.” We don’t have an endowment, and we raised just over $123,325 in 2021, and we are eternally grateful for that support. Because of our donors (187 of them), we are financially stable!
Fundraising can be challenging in the best of times, but it’s doubly tricky when your cause is unpopular. Every month, we have a mountain to climb to make ends meet. However, holding tightly onto our relentless optimism and with the good fortune of having generously supportive donors – plus thirty-three years of successful service – we continue to serve and help solve society’s problems.

Despite our Black Sheep status – here’s what we’ve accomplished:

Here’s an example of where our Black Sheep organization serves our residents.

Last week one of our residents lost his job. With modest savings, he will soon have to choose between paying his bills or going on a “Ramen Diet.” He is actively looking for a job. In the meantime, to use the timeworn phrase, he needs a hand-up, not a handout. This is where God’s “Anonymous Fund” comes to the rescue. Because of the generosity of our donors, he will get over this rough patch in his life and return to a life less stressful, productive life.

Even though we may be a stigmatized nonprofit agency in the eyes of some – we will continue to do God’s work. All of us at Restoration Destination are His creations. Ephesians 2:10 10 For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.

All of us thank you for your support.

Matthew 25:40 “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.”
