For the first time since the start of the pandemic, we will be traveling out of town to pick up our newest resident. This is a process we have completed so many times, it had become routine. This time will be different as we will be doing everything possible to protect our residents, staff , and volunteers. We will be wearing masks, armed with hand sanitizer, and taking everyone’s temperature with our new infra-red thermometer as an added precaution. We would normally stop at Cracker Barrel on the way home to share a meal with our new guy, Joe. We’ll be going straight home on this trip, though – he’ll have to settle for a home cooked meal.Joe would normally be sharing a room with a roommate upon arriving at our “transition house”. However, due to Covid-19 concerns, we are not having anyone share a room at this time. We prefer our new guys to have a roommate who acts as a built-in support system, but everyone’s health is our priority. We’ve had to adjust how we do many things, but what we do and why we do it remains the same yesterday, and today and forever.
